REVIEW: E.L.F. Cosmetics Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

I purchased quite a few items from E.L.F. cosmetics and wanted to write a review for all their items, but found that there are a ton of great things as well as quite a few bad to say about their products, so I'll keep the reviews separate.

 

First off is the tinted moisturizer. I bought this with the intent to only use it as my everyday makeup. No use in wasting MAC on an everyday look lol. I purchased the 0.88 fl oz. tube at Target in their very limited e.l.f. section for $3. When I used it for the first time, the thing I noticed the most right off the bat was the smell. It smells like sunscreen... not what I expected. I did notice that it said SPF 20 on the tube, but every other foundation I've purchased with SPF has had just a regular makeup smell. The next thing I noticed was that I had to put quite a bit on for any kind of coverage. I know in the description from the website, it says "Achieve even skin tone and naturally radiant skin with this moisturizing sheer tint of color", but I had to put a lot on to notice any change in my skin tone. After applying more, I definitely saw an even tone... but another downside- it made my skin super shiny and a tad sticky.

 

Luckily, I had just purchased MAC Studio Fix Powder. I just dusted some on over it and everything in the world was better. :) My usual daily regimen is MAC face primer, MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 and finishing off with the MAC Studio Fix powder. So if anything, it makes for a great foundation to set up to use the MAC powder which saves me roughly $17 per month. ($3 per tube, maybe using 3 tubes per month vs. $26.50 for a bottle of MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15).

 

Pros

-Great foundation if you plan on using a powder to set it

-Easy to color match because it is so sheer

-Only $3 for a tube

-Does not feel heavy or thick on your skin

 

Cons

-Leaves skin sticky and shiny if not set with a powder

-Smells like sunscreen

-Small amount (0.88 fl oz per tube)

 

Would I purchase this item again- Yes
