Pinups at Work.

Hello everyone! I'm hoping this is the right place to post this.. But anyway, I'm interested in seeing how everyone incorporates their pin-up/rockabilly, whatever it may be, style into their work wear. Especially those who work at a place with uniforms. 

If you work from home, of course you can post as well, but I'm mostly interested in how everyone gets around drab uniform policies while still [mostly] following the rules.

Here is my picture, I'm a manager at a Mcdonald's. I know, I know, what a glamourous job! But we're planning on moving within the year, so I haven't wanted to look for anything else until we get settled in elsewhere. Plus, it pays!

As you can see in the picture, I can pretty much only kinda do my hair, make up, and then use one of my scarves as a tie instead of the issued ones. 

What about all of you? I can't wait to see some pictures!

I have been trying to figure out how to do this for quite some time now. I work at Baskin Robbins, so no glamor for me either. We have to wear a visor, over-sized t-shirt and khaki pants/shorts. Really no room for my style in all that.

I'm lucky that I don't have to wear a hat. 

Some high-waisted shorts and then of course your make up, can probably help out a little bit.

I wear an ugly button up shirt and ill fitting black slacks to work.  NO room for style either.  Once in a great while I will do the red lips (if I am not too lazy) and pin curl my hair.  

Here is a pic of me while at work.  And the second is me the same day after work, to show more detail on how the hair looked.  It went for the old style feel but still stayed w/in guide lines.

As you stated, the makeup helps! Thankfully, I can wear pencil skirts and dresses to work, but in order to look a little more professional, I avoid any drastic styles with my hair (my bright red colour is enough!). I let my Bettie Bangs do the talking : )

On a moderately irrelevant level, you're beautiful and you must make those McD customers happy to look at ya!

I work in retail, so cute blouses, trousers, skirts are ok.  I wear my usual makeup - winged liner and red lips.  And despite it feeling a bit over the top, I do victory rolls, bumper bangs etc.  All the customers love it, even if management does give me looks.  It fortunately isn't against dress code.

I feel your pain!!  I work at a dog grooming salon, and that is NOT a pin-up friendly job.  I have to wear black, waterproof-ish pants (I basically just wear spandex yoga pants) and an over-sized black smock with sleeves that go all the way to my elbows.  I have to keep my tattoos covered, so I can't even roll up my sleeves.  Makeup and hair are the only ways I get to play with style at work.  

I have no choice but to pull my hair up and keep my bangs back while I'm at work; otherwise it just gets in my eyes while I'm bending and twisting and trying to control crazy dogs.  I like to pull my hair up in a bun or a french twist, secure it with three times as many pins as I would normally use (and then a dog can still smack my hair out of place, lol), and once in a while, I'll wear a SMALL hair flower secured in the back.  Sometimes I'll pin my bangs back in a small quiff, but by the end of the day, they still might have to come down and be pinned flat to the side.

Eye make up is the only makeup I can relatively count on lasting through an entire shift.  Most days, I can use my eye primer and do any kind of eye shadow, liquid or gel eyeliner, and waterproof mascara and be okay.  But I still occasionally get soap or dog hair in my eyes and lose all of that before the day's over.  I only wear lipstick if I'm working less than 8 hours, and it has to be a reliable long-wear lipstick or lip stain.  I never know in advance if I'm going to have a day that's so crazy and busy that I can't touch up my lipstick even once, and I don't want to walk around for hours with just a red outline around my lips.  I usually opt for a moderately or lightly pigmented gloss that I can apply in seconds without a mirror, and that I know from experience will fade evenly, instead of giving me that chula lip-liner look.  I keep the makeup on the rest of my face pretty basic because I'm likely to sweat it off anyway, or wipe it off while trying to wipe off bits of dog hair that fly onto my face.  I don't want to have to buy a new bottle of primer with every pay check, so I just keep it super basic and expect it be gone by the end of a full shift.

Bracelets would get in my way, and necklaces would be likely to get ripped off by an unruly dog.  I certainly know better than to wear hoops or dangling earrings, but even wearing stud earrings makes me nervous.  It would probably be fine 99% of the time, but you just never know if a dog's paw will land in just the right spot to make you regret wearing them.  

So yeah, basically, I just wear winged eyeliner.  lol
