do they exist??

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't quite sure. Anyway, I'm very torn on the subject of tattoos, and one of my friends told me that you cannot be a pinup with no tattoos. I disagreed. While i'm not totally against the idea of getting one, I don't think it's completely necessary to complete the look either. I gave him the example of Bernie Dexter for instance, who yes...has a few, but isn't all tatted up either. What do you all think?

I don't recall seeing any of the original pinups and famous illustrations from the 40's and 50's having any tattoos..In fact I personally rather work with models with no visible tattoos although it is getting almost challenging to find girls with no tattoos at all these days...
Well that seems just plain silly to me! "Pin Up" has nothing to do with being tattooed or not. It's just about gorgeous ladies showin' off their "sexy"! ;-)
I know extremely classic (and, ahem, CLASSY) pin up models that have more tattoos that circus performers, and I know fetish and porn models that have no tattoos at all. You look is not based by what you have on your skin. it's based on what you WANT to portray. You most definitely do NOT have to have tattoos to be a pinup model.

that is the most absurd thing that I have ever heard. You should really smack your friend for me. (totally serious)
and why do the tattoos matter? You're passing up some really lovely women if you prefer only "non-tattooed" models. Like JenDelux said, there's tattoo concealer, but that shouldn't be the point. Tattooed ladies can be just as classic and classy looking as every other lady.

Lets not call people out please. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I wouldn't be caught dead driving an electric car. I'm probably passing up some really lovely cars, but I prefer and am entitled to drive my earth killer.

At no point did Christian state that tattoo'd dolls were any less lovely, or classy than those without them.

Bernie Dexter has tattoos. As does Dita Von Tease (though she uses makeup to cover them for shows/photos)

I'm with most of you here on this as I am untattoeed myself. I really admrie them both on girls and ond boys. Some stunners without tattoos are the aformentioned Bernie Dexter and Angela Ryan and some stunners with are Sabina Kelley and Masumi Max. I concur with DC's opinion.
I'm not saying that you're not entitled to your preferences. but a car is not easily changed, tattoos are very easily covered up. It's a sore issue, as I've had many a'lovely tattooed girlfriend passed up for modeling opportunities due to a visible tattoo. slap some makeup on and BAM! no tattoos.

I've actually been passed up a few times because people wanted tattooed girls for certain modeling jobs. You win some, you lose some.
Within various subcultures, tattoos certainly evoke a more "alternative" image. It all depends on aesthetics and opinion.

Your friend is silly.
I've tried the Kat Von D tattoo concealer. I couldn't get the darn thing to work myself since my tattoos are on my back, so I had a friend do it, and she came up with the same conclusion.

It may have worked had my tattoo been a lighter color. It's bright blue, pink, and black. The pink was the first to go, but the blue just looked a bit like a green bruise under the makeup. We had to cake so much concealer on there to try and cover it that the concealer wouldn't dry and it did not look very natural.
It covers the tattoo alright, but everyone can also tell you're covering a tattoo. For me, it was more like a semi-sheer skin colored blanket over the tattoos.

Which is too bad since I wanted to cover my tattoos for my wedding. If my family found out they would freak!

you don't need tattoos to look like a pinup. you are what you are and are beautiful because you are you.

oh - there's a tattoo concealer on Sephora by Kat Von D, i haven't used it but i've heard great things about it.
That Kat von D concealer is rubbish. Try Cover FX, that will definitely hide your tattoos.
Agreed. Tattoo FX was what I used when going on Job Interviews.
