"We Are The New Vintage"
Hello. This is the first time I have posted, but I think this would be the best place to ask for some advice.
I have always been a fan of the pin-up art and style, but I have never actively participated in any activities. I had some pin-up photos taken for my own personal reasons, but that is about it. However, I have decided to enter a pin-up contest at a local vintage motorcycle event. I am very shy when it comes to my appearance and I tend to have stage fright. The contest required I post a pin-up photo on Facebook to try to win votes, but I have had to keep it on the down-low because of my conservative family and job.
I know the purpose of the contest is to have fun and I would like to enjoy it without appearing like the complete novice that I am. I would like to not come in so far behind the other girls in the competition, but I am already at a disadvantage because I cannot promote my entry on Facebook. My real hope is looking like a confident retro pin-up on stage. I was wondering if any of you fabulous ladies have any advice about how I could get on that stage and embrace my inner pin-up and not give in to my nerves.
Thanks!

Great! Thank you! Your website is awesome. :-)
I did a pin up contest last weekend and basically just go and have fun. Don't think about being placed and just have a giggle with it. I hate being the focus of attention but sort of thing of it as not being you. If that makes sense! Wiggle your buns around and smile like a goodun' :)
Girl..you just do what seems right...but don't compromise the family thing wouid be my advice no matter how much it may seem right to go against they're wishes...I've been there but in a transgendered dimension..if you get my drift?

by the way..you look fab..you should enter..you'll do better than what you think
Thanks, Gals! My family just doesn't get the playfulness of pin up and that is why I haven't posted the photo on my Facebook page to try to get votes. I love the beauty of it, but they just see it as a girl in her underwear. I love it and I think pin up is beautiful. However, the thought of being on stage (sober) scares me. I have never seen a pin up contest before so I'm curious as what to do once I am up there. I like the advice about wiggling your buns! Do the girls usually strike pin up poses or have props? I don't know what to do on stage!
