Going through messages on Model Mayhem, I can't believe how many creepoids have contacted me over the years. Some "photographers" can easily be identified as only being into taking photos for wank material, rather than doing it for the sake of art.
Have any of you lovely ladies ever been contacted by, or actually worked with anyone in the industry that was just totally 'ew' worthy? I'm beginning to think I've got a magnet for the creeps.

OMG, I totally agree, the GWC's (guy with cameras) are totally creepos! My favorite creeper was a guy who wanted to pay me $250 to smoke cigarettes with my top off while he video taped me and took pics...for "performance art" I politely declined. :-X
Oh, ew! That's straight fetish work, and definitely intended for more than just lookin' pretty! 0.0

Okay, so... ew. There's a local body painter that I've been avoiding like the plague for the past two years or so. He initially wanted to paint a vintage swimsuit onto my naked body for a photoshoot. All I could think was, "Dude, if I wanted to do a photoshoot in a vintage swimsuit, I'd go buy a vintage swimsuit and do a photoshoot in it." I don't see any art in what he does, as all he has in his portfolio are nekked chicks with paint literally splattered on them. It's obvious why he does what he does, and I really, really don't want him touching my naked body.
It doesn't help that I have several model friends that have worked with him, and have told me that he spends a little *too* much time painting certain areas (I'll leave it to you guys to guess which ones),and then they never even got their photos back from the shoot. Turns out my intuitions about him were right from the start.
SO, I manage to avoid him for this long, until he recently sent me a friend request on Facebook. I decide not to be rude, and accept it, and within a matter of hours, he was IMing asking if I'd model for some stupid wannabe rave that he hosts every week or so. He has girls get naked and does some haggard ass black light reflective paint jobs onto their bodies. I simply explained that I'm five months pregnant, and would rather not. Instead of dropping it, he then goes on to ask if I'd like to do a maternity session, and have him paint my belly. I just stopped talking to him at that point, and then went on to delete his ass. I'm just so beyond grossed out.
Been there! I always attract the creeps too The last one appeared normal, until I got to the shoot (it was TFCD).
I instinctively do not trust anyone (photog) who contacts me to shoot from MM.
As soon as I got model mayhem I was flooded with offers of photoshoots... by guys who like to take pictures of girls "special parts" It really is disturbing, but the more disturbing thing is if you look at their galleries, the number of young girls who went for it, likely trying to get a head start in the world of modelling only to have their bodies objectified for the photographer to beat off to.
I really feel like MM should do something about this, because it doesn't seem like just a little thing, it seems like a big. big deal and considering they have policies, they need to reinforce them.
This really is a shame, as MM is a great resource, but I too am getting to the point that I don't trust people.

I definately have shot with photographers who had different motives for shooting me than just creating art. I had one photog who was shooting me at a car show tell me how hot I looked right in front of my ex-Navy SEAL dad! Not how beautiful or how nice my outfit looked, but howhot I was. I was creeped out to say the least and almost felt a little disrespect for my dad...
Oh, and I should probably mention that the photog was definately within 5 years of my dad's 58 year old self, which is the real reason that it was so creepy

I worked with a photog once, and although we were in a very well air conditioned location, he somehow managed to get SUPER sweaty, and had to keep catching his breath... his excuse was that he "holds his breath while shooting". I ignored it, because he was a good friend of a good photographer friend of mine, and I trusted him. Then, he kept urging to me to take my top off... the shoot was already going far over the time it was supposed to, and nudity hadn't been been previously discussed. Ew.
I get the photos back, most of which he'd zoomed all up in my crotch area every chance he could. I was pissed. My fiance was furious. But it was for Zivity, so at least I got paid. I suppose there's a bright side to everything.
It is, actually, a good idea to not trust people until they show you something worth trusting. The internet is filled with more creeps than the real world, and they hang out on places like MM. When they find this place, believe me, they will hang out here.

It is freakishly easy to get a camera and a pirated Photoshop from someone who used to work at Adobe and now still has friends who don't mind slipping a friend a copy. So easy to become a GWC.

People forget what their mothers' taught them: don't talk to strangers. Of course, when we grow up we have to amend that to, "don't meet with strangers alone."

Look for the signs. If he doesn't want anyone else at the shoot, he is probably a creep. If he seems at all creepy to begin with, he probably is.

Sorry to say, it is even harder, the prettier you are and the more sensual your photos appear. Those are the ones who attract more creepolicious d00ds than the pictures of "this is me, on my way to church," photos.

Somehow, when I was internet dating, I managed to avoid those creeptastic idjits. I got their emails, but my documented, "Ice Queen" exterior might have scared them off.
