Another new series this fall is NBC's Playboy Club. Set in 1963 (just like Pan Am, http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/forum/topics/new-tv-series-pan-am) it's all about, you guessed it, the legendary Playboy Club in Chicago. This one looks really good too, and I'm totally looking forward to fall TV.

"The Playboy Club has officially been canceled. There will be no more episodes aired. It was announced today. This is one of the main reasons why:

"Despite having relatively tame content, the show wasn’t helped by conservative group the Parents Television Council vehemently protesting the show. The PTC released a statement saying they were pleased with the cancellation:

“Bringing The Playboy Club to broadcast television was a poor programming decision from the start. We’re pleased that NBC will no longer be airing a program so inherently linked to a pornographic brand that denigrates and sexualizes women … we hope other broadcasters heed the important lessons of this programming debacle.”

It's enough to piss you off a little right?

The full story can be read here: http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/10/04/playboy-club-cancelled/

I watched the first 2 episodes on my dvr and set it up to record them all, but...  I really liked the show and since I didn't know what to expect it was a nice surprise.

I agree Roxy, the male lead was too much Don Draper, but I got past it and drawn into the story that may develop.  The hair, makeup and styling is really nice to see on tv.

I'm not sure what the group is protesting about this show.  Playboy is hardly pornographic and it was really tame by today's standards in the 60s.  It shouldn't have been cancelled, maybe just moved to a later time slot.  There are plenty of other shows on tv that the group should take on (teen mom stuff?)

Bummer.  Hopefully PanAm will stay on the air.

Frankly I didn't like the show that much.  There was a lot to look at but the story seemed a little too......something.  I guess I set my expectations to high.  That said it's sad to see it go because of the PTC.

There is still hope. They are still filming the show and are going to continue to do so until the contracts are up. They are hoping it will be picked up by another network. Here is an article that mentions them still filming and talks about Eddie Cibrian's injury on the set. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20534306,00.html?xid=email-...
