New denim trend: high-waisted & wide-legged, 70s style. Hot or not?

I know most of us here aren't extremely concerned with what's trendy or not, but I'm curious.. what do you think of this new trend?

I searched and searched and could find no images in which the jeans were flattering in any way to the model. Not a good sign.

Ick!  I love the high waist on jeans and high-waist shorts.  But I'm not a fan of wide-leg.  They make me look a million times bigger.
I love it. The low rise jeans just aren't flattering on most people. I feel that even I could wear these.
not a fan unless they are the denim sailor style pant with the complete retro look!

Not a fan of anything around my waist... even when it was the style. The thing about this style is to get the right look, you have to be tall and thin. I'm tall but no skinny minnie! Just not a fan of this reborn fad.

I think some of the 70's fashion should stay in the 70's! :)

I have to agree.

hmmm not a big fan of these. I prefer my straight legged jeans, cuffed.
Honestly, as stupid as it sounds, whenever I would wear flares growing up, my foot would constantly get caught on the extra material and I would trip over myself all day. Just looking at them sometimes makes me reminisce on how bad I was at wearing them.

LOL I thought I was the only one who did this! I trip over bootcut trousers/jeans even now. If theres any extra fabric near my feet I will trip guaranteed!
Hence another reason I dont like flares!
Why, big why? I really think this is the worst style ever, don´t like the 70´s style at all. :/
umm, not.
Love the initial post with examples of how they just don't flatter the models. Also, the sailory designer style is not the same at all. Fabric and line are different. Love, love, love, Roxy's details on preference of fashion eras. And silhouettes etc... You really know fashion history and you know your own taste. Smart and savvy, that one. Really made me reflect on my own opinions. I'm not sure why designers are going wider leg with jeans this season. I'm guessing it's a reaction to the skinny jeans. They are looking out of control ridiculous skinny on hipsters (especially boys) in the lower east side/williamsburg area. Is the next stop is retro 90's and the club kid super fat legged pants with tiny baby tees and huge soled shoes? Oh god let's hope not.

Thank you! My major in collage was History of Fashion, and it's still a huge passion of mine. I love to talk about history and will do so whenever I can. It's one of the reason I love this scene, the focus on vintage fashion.

Oh, and that retro 90's look, I totally sported that when I was a Raver.... loved it then, but I totally agree, it should not come back! LOL

Hmm I think it works for some and not for others. I think I like this on others and not on my large hipped short legged self.
