I really want a bike that I can ride around town, and I don't think I want a beach cruiser. I've been told if I'm actually going to use the bike, I need multiple speeds. But I reallllly think beach cruisers are cute. So I have the girl dilemma. I want something cute, but also functional.
Any suggestions?

No need to put this in The Marketplace, you aren't selling anything. Moving to The Chit Chat Lounge!
That's weird- I meant to put it in the Cycle forum... :-\ Awkwarddddddd.

Cassie, you need a tricycle with streamers on the grips and a flower basket...
If I had a bike...

Check out the offerings (3-speed cruisers and Townies!) from Electra Bikes, as well as your local Target, which sells a Schwinn 7-speed cruiser for a mere $120. Heck, I should buy one myself!
beach cruisers are cute comfy and girly. but heavy to pick up and dont go very fast. they are chunky. if your really going to ride, get something more light weight and sleek.
Hence the dilemma... hahaha. I just need to convince the boyfriend to buy one for me. :) He'll know what to get

The FELT Beach cruisers are really well made and they're cheapper than electra! I've got a "Red Baron" - it's a cool bike!
i bought it at a junk sale/swap meet for $5..... BEST 5bones EVER spent.. i heart my bike! speeds? ONE SPEED, and i could ride all over town... my town has ALOT of hills too!

my last bike was pink, and a little girls bike.. i zap strapped a cupie doll to the front, and had rainbow streamers on the handles....
just ride! ride what you want, your body will adjust to the size of bike! (somebody may not agree, but i'm not a pro, it's for the love of the bike!)

I have a messenger style bike- but being that its vintage- its not to great for riding in the street- which is expected where I live- and it has no speeds, its extremely heavy, it doesn't do hills, and since there's rust present- forget having it in the rain (yes, i'd ride in the rain, I like rain). guess vintage isn't always better.
But its hella cute and somehow fits in my eclipse! I'd post a pic, but the ones in my album are old- I've had more work done to it since those were taken. I had a white Nirve seat put on it- they're WAY comfy to sit on.
If you are just riding around town (ie mostly flat roads) you can get away with a single speed if you are comfortable standing up on the pedals to get up speed. BUT why not get both!

A friend of mine has an older Felt Red Baron cruiser bike, so I just looked at their website..

Best of both worlds!

I really dig the Hot Wheels Sixty-8 one! I just bought a super badass mt bike that I never get time to ride, so probably shouldnt buy another one... I should just build my own bike anyway.

They also have 7 speeds, but you dont need that unless you are planning on riding a lot including big hills.

Find a local bike shop and go take one for a ride. Make sure you are comfortable on it.
