Lipstick For Dry Lips

So, I have incredibly chapped lips. Sure they're big and beautiful but I need to constantly reapply chap-stick or else they look like dried up prunes. I would really love to enjoy the lipstick club and was just wondering if anyone has this problem, and what do they do to solve it? What kind of lipstick works well with chapped puckers? THANK YOU!!

I've always been the same way - my lips dry up like mad crazy :)

I'm a HUGE fan of Burts Bees Lip Shimmer (http://www.burtsbees.com/natural-products/lips-lip-shimmer-gloss/li...) - it has a nice, tingly, happy feeling when you put it on, and some of the colors are fabulous... "raisin" is a lot more red than it seems in the picture, by the way. That's what I wear pretty much on an everyday basis, but if I'm really doing myself up it actually works really nicely as a moisturizing bottom layer for an additional lipstick or gloss on top of it, and you don't have to reapply more often than you would with normal lipstick.

Have you tried Carmex instead of chap-stick? I'm on meds that make my lips super chap, and Carmex is the best I've tried so far. Also, Mary kay makes a product called Satin Lips, it's a great exfoliant. My go to for when I'm on the meds is Carmex, lip liner, and then color gloss w/glitter.

In addidtion to what was said by everyone else here, I actually have had some problems with the lip colors themselves drying my lips out. I have some very nice lipsticks including some from the MAC Viva Glam line and NARS, in beautiful colors, but here is the thing, they just dry my lips right out!! Once you get your chappped lips cleaned up, I would reccommend the L'Oreal brand lipsticks because they provide moisture. I recently bought several in the Color Riche line. They were only like $6!! The color I bought is True Red. They have a nice lipliner in the same line, color riche and I got the Always Red. What I do is I apply my moisturizer and then moisturize my lips with Neutrogena lip balm and let all that soak in my skin about 10 minutes. Then I go do my makup an my lips are the very last thing, I line the entire lip with the red pencil and put the lipstick over the top with a brush. That particular lipstick is a very true red but it does have a tiny bit of shimmer to it and I think it looks nice, kind of satiny. You'll need to reapply this a little more often but its worth it for the comfort. That's my suggestion but we all are so different in what works for each of us!

Agree with water for sure! Forget the 8 glasses, the best is your body weight halved in ounces. It seems like a lot, but it's easy once you get used to it.

For real lipstick (highly pigmented, like Talloolah said) , like red (because we all need it!), I use MAC Russian Red, with Revlon color stay liner, and carmex or chapstick (depending on if i'm on the meds) under it. I have no probs with the color saying true, but only with the MAC stuff. Other brands I can't speak for.

Roxy when I went to replace my Russian Red right before the holidays they were out and I bought the Ruby Woo, which is the color shade right next to that one, I like it! More of a "cherry" color. (Not giving up the russian red or VIVA Glam #1 though!) Dang it, I love red lipstick!!

#1 drink more water
#2 a lip exfolation if you have that extra dry skin that is attached to your lips.
seriously helps! I have a little bit of that problem from weather changes and wind.

My favorite listick for those really dry months is from benefit Cosmetics... they have amazing lipsticks that are like lipstick and lipgloss combined, they are called "Silky Finish"! But my best tip for dry lips is apply the same eye cream you use for your eyes for your lips too! Believe it or not the skin around your eyes is just as sensitive as your lips so you can use the sam products for both... in a pinch you can even use chapstick under your eyes! Crazy, I know!

I use Burts Beez medicated clove lip balm. It's AMAZING (and tingly!). I use an exfoliating lip balm/stick at night after putting my moisturizer on my face. And Kitty, I've actually used chapstick on my cheeks before because they were so dry, it totally works! Also, you can put chapstick on your eyelids to give them a nice moisturized look, and also gives a nice shine. A trick I use when I don't want to do the whole "eye makeup" thing.

I'm a dog-walker, so I'm out in the elements every day for hours....wind, sun, cold, hot, you name it. I use Carmex too! It's great! Carmex in the tub, the stuff you apply with your fingers is TOTALLY out of the question for me, since my hands are dirty with dog and mud, but they make it in chapstick tubes now, and in a cherry flavor! Perfect for reapplying on the trail. I LOVE IT! Some people dislike the smell or taste of regular Carmex, but the cherry stick solves that too!
