Is it possible to make your own shoes?

You know, people make custom made clothing lines - can you do that with shoes?

I would love to know how.

I'm sure, I ordered a custom pair from a gentleman in the UK. My uncle in Bolivia also had his own shoe company, he did sneakers and leather shoes. The required equipment is much more elaborate and expensive than making your own clothing, we're talking building a car out of sheet metal vs. one out of legos if you're working with leather.

There are a number of people on etsy who make shoes from scratch here is one I have also seen people who make some very nice shoes at vintage shows.
