my hair is White. I've maintained it for years. the key, unfortunately, is your natural hair color. the lighter your hair is naturally the easier it will be to lift to a white shade. to be blunt, if you are naturally a brunette, it will be a next to impossible task and there will be lots of damage. not only that, it will be MAJOR upkeep!!!
My Process:
When I bleach my roots, I use Wella Blondor with Ion Color brilliance 30 volume developer (I use this particular developer because my scalp is sensitive and this is the only stuff that doesn't give me blisters). I leave the mixture on for 45 minutes. (Keep in mind, When applying Bleach, SPEED is very IMPORTANT!!! I can not stress this enough!!! AS SOON AS YOU MIX THE TWO ELEMENTS TOGETHER IT WILL START TO OXIDIZE!)
After the bleaching is done, my roots are a flourecent yellow. this is what you want. Not orange, not yellow orange, bright ass yellow! if it's too orange, it will not work as well.
here's my trick, instead of using a Toner (toners are pastel colors used to tone out unwanted brassiness) like the T-18, I use ION's HL-V, A Violet based High Lift Color, with my Ion 30 volume. I leave it on for 45 to an hour and shampoo with my Joico Violet shampoo, follow it up with a K-Pak Deep conditioner and Voila!
Keep in mind, you may have to play with developer levels and timing, to suit your particular hair color/type/texture. and if you do it right, you will be able to have this color with minimal damage...
Most of the Products I use, can be purchased at Sally's!!
Good Luck my dear! and lemme know how it turns out! If you have any questions, shoot me a message!

Great tips ladies! I use Clairol Shimmerlights Conditioner, and it works wonders too. Manic Panic Virgin Snow is great too b/c the toner doesn't use a developer so less damage to the hair.
Actually, Renee, or anyone else, do you have any tips to keep the hair from turning blue or purple from the toners?
Mine always seems to pull on my bangs and one particular section on the side. No matter what, those areas hold onto the toner or shimmerlights and turn blue/purple. I usually have to have a mirror handy and shampoo out that particular section and re-condition with a regular conditioner. Kind of tedious, but I don't know what else to do. I think that part of the hair is more porous. Probably b/c I use the curling iron there more often, at least that's my theory. I have naturally light blonde hair though, so my hair at least still looks and feels in good shape. I don't know why it keeps turning purple, lol, but sometimes it ends up in streaks and looks intentional. I've gotten more than a few compliments on my purple highlights! yikes! lol
