How do you clean your favorite vintage clothing?

Anyone that invests in vintage clothing knows how important it is to take care of it. I've heard of so many different techniques on how to clean it and I'm wondering, what do you all here on PL do/use? Do you steam clean or carefully handwash? Have you found something that worked wonders or something that totally ruined a piece? How I clean mine depends on the piece and I'm always looking for new tips and tricks to keep my vintage pieces looking great. :)
