I'm looking for help to make a size 6-8 store bought corset (the fake kind) longer. I'd prefer not to tear the thing to shreds, but that might be difficult since my dress size is now somewhere between 10-14. The corset is just not long enough to wrap around me completely, and the ribbon is 8 feet and 4 inches long!

I could simply buy longer ribbon, but i'm afraid that make the flesh on my back stick out funny. Does anyone have any tips for simple stitching?

**I had my heart set on it because the design was exactly what I was looking for to go with my Halloween costume.

Thanks!

You want to make it longer (bust to waist) or bigger (around the body)? There's not much you can do to make it loner other then maybe add some decorative trim (like fringe or lace). To make it bigger, you can CAREFULLY cut out one or two of the panels (I would do the ones under the arms) and add more material. A stretchy one would work best since it's not a real corset and you're not worried about the cinching. Be sure to cut away from the boning.
