So i have a christmas shoot coming up. its not typical christmas pinup, but more of a "New Look" (1945-1964) style of shoot.

I ordered a red swing dress that was a faux wrap on the top (photo below)

It fits me in the most disgusting manner imaginable. And its the correct size. So I'm on the hunt for a new outfit.

Unfortunately, I am finding NOTHING. I've searched high and low on the internet. Amazon, overstock, ebay, etsy....all my local vintage stores, the goodwill...and i've come up with nothing in terms of a red vintage style dress.

I'm thinking separates would be an easier route- but my brain is so wracked from this fiasco, my stellar shopping skills are shot.

Can anybody offer me some suggestions? I'd really appreciate it!

Stop Staring is having their holiday sale next month. It's only in their store in Paramount, it's the greatest sale ever! Last year I spent $300, got 6 dresses. One was worth almost $200.
What size are you?

And what price range are you looking at?

If you really want New Look, I can rustle up a Liili Ann, Joseph Magnin or Dior New York.

Now if you really want to go all out, I can even get a Jacques Fath, or Dior Couture.
Richard speaks the truth. Wicked connections!

www.peachcupcakes.com maybe you can do a full apron over the dress? Or, drop the dress completely, purchase a full apron and keep the unders simple? Like an old 60s ad. A skirt and white top?
Red pencil skirt with a sweater with a faux fur collar. and often times you can find the collar separatly to add to any sweater! Maybe put a vintage pin on it too!
Thats my two cents, hope it helps . . . I like the apron idea too, I see Holiday themed ones at antique stores all the time!
Here's another suggestion.

Take the dress to a seamstress and have it altered.
omg, thank you everybody for the suggestions. i sincerely will be keeping these in mind for a Christmas shoot next year. or i may do more than one this year....

anyway, richard. your connections are insane. if i ever need something more high end...i'll be looking in your direction. and with the idea of altering- the seamstress i see regularly didn't even want to work on it- the dress looks THAT bad on me. and its really cheap fabric. it is cotton, but it falls along the lines of the cardboard-ish sheets that you'd buy for the guest room that nobody ever stays in.
I have the heartbreaker diner dress and I love it!!! I get compliments on it every time I wear it out, so I would totally rock that one, and it is on sale right now. Good luck!
