Okay fellow PL geeks....(and non geeks)
What did you think of the first part of Harry Potter 7?? Was it everything you were hoping? If it wasnt, what was it missing? Did you have a gnarly theater experience with some wild fans???
I'm curious to know what people thought and if there's excitement brewing for what part 2 will bring!

I'm pretty dang happy with how it's been played out so far. I've always like how HP is carried over into the muggle world and how there's a completely different magical world right next to our own (well, muggles hehe). I like the real-world no longer in school aspect.

Your thoughts??

I am a GIGANTIC HP fan and I've read each of the books probably 4+ times haha. I have always disliked the movies, especially the 3rd (The Prisoner of Azkaban) I do not feel that they were done well and although I realize that some details must be left out of the movies due to time I think that they cut very important parts. I am super excited that the 7th book has been split into 2 movies cause I'm hoping that this means that they will get it right this time! I havent seen it yet, I'm planning on going tomorrow but I will definately reply with my thoughts once I see it.
I had mixed feelings about the movie. It left me feeling very unsatisfied, but that isn't the movie's fault so much as the fact that I've read the books multiple times and I would have gladly sat through over 5 hours of movie to see it all in one sitting. ;D
Anyway, as far as sticking to the books, I think they did a great job. They did a lot better than the previous movies had. I only wish that the beginning of the movie had been more like the beginning of the book with the Dursleys, and that they had given away more about what had been going on in Hogwarts like they did in the book (with the dual paintings and whatnot). I'm happy with what they changed about Hedwig, I feel like it was an improvement on the books.
All in all, I can't wait for the second part. I hope they do an all-day showing and show Pt1 before Pt2 at Midnight. I stood in line in below-freezing weather for four hours to see Part 1 and it was all worth it because I was the first into one of the theaters that opened! First pick of the seats! Made the movie THAT much more enjoyable.
I love the film, going to see it again this week. However, I do agree that the beginning of the film should have included the stuff at the beginning of the book with the Dursley's and the newspaper article about Dumbledore as I had not read the book before seeing the film and was a bit confused as to character references etc. I have been listening to the audiobooks and now it makes more sense to me but a lot of Harry Potter fans don't read the books beforehand so they could have taken that into consideration. Sorry rant over haha
I love HP! I love the movies, but I get aggravated watching them because they leave a lot of important details out. I thought part one was good and stuck to the books better then the others. Can't wait for part 2!
havnt seen it yet, but im itching to go!
I I loved it, i could have and would have sat there for another 2 and half hours for part two. The movies get better and better every time a new one comes out.
I absolutely loved it. The 2-1/2 hours flew by and I was left wondering why it ended so soon. The animation sequence of The 3 Brothers was STUNNING. Only 7 more months until Part 2! I'm going to be extremely sad to see it come to an end. I guess I can always read the books for the 9th time each!

Have to agree with what everyone else has said, always a bit disappointed with the films, but this one was definitely the best :)

Oh, and here's a random fun fact - Dobby died on one of my local beaches! (Okay okay, they just filmed that part of the film there...)
