I was watching "Man vs. Food" earlier and they were in a cafe called Munchies 420. They have a menu of "fat" sandwiches like the "Fat Sandy", which contains chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, two cheeseburgers, and fried potato wedges, slathered in macaroni and cheese.

Oh, and Cat? That is some fancy art you posted there, but it doesn't resemble anything I consider "food"

I can understand where you're coming from, a lot of what they do at El Bulli has never been done before, which is why they have a waiting list standing at just over 5 years. But if you're into more traditional food porn, I've got some shots of when we went to Victoria & Alberts.

Amuse Bouche

Clockwise starting at the top: Smoked Salmon and Seasalt Flan served in its own shell, Colorado Buffalo, Quail Egg topped with Sevruga Caviar, and Smoked Salmon Roll

Iranian Osetra Caviar

Paired with traditional Russian blinis, herbed creme freche, and egg.

Duck Three Ways

From left to right: Braised Duck-breast Pastrami, Duck Thigh, and Clove-spiced Duck Sausage.

Wagyu Steak

The Real Deal Japanese born and bred Kobe beef with a 48 hour sauce reduction and garlic potato puree topped with the beef trimmings.

Dino Noms

Cat with a side of fear... cut me some slack, I was drunk by then.
That was the best dinner we ever had... gimmie that caviar!!!
i'm sure it tastes good but i'll stick to diner food, thank you. good old greasy diner food. Yum!

I'm with Lacy! I like good 'ole fashioned home-cookin' type foods.

Cat, that food resembles FOOD a bit more, but there just ain't enough of it! I've never been into fancy dining.... The fanciest I get is a real great steakhouse with aged meat, but it still comes in big portions, with potatoes on the side! This thread is "food porn," not "food artistic nude" lol! The food you posted is lovely, very pretty to look at, but it doesn't turn me on ;)

I will never order a something where the plate is huge and blank, with a single slice of something and an odd smear of sauce across the thing... also don't dig those foam puree's everyone on Iron Chef puts on EVERYTHING. And I'll probably never walk into any restaurant that calls their food "fusion" something-or-other. That's just me :)
I have to say that just because you haven't tried it, doesn't make it bad, and doesn't give you the right to be rude to people. TC, and anyone else, should be able to post whatever food they want to without having to worry about it, or them, being put down. The thread is called food porn, not "what Never Again thinks is food porn". Sorry but, just because it doesn't turn you on, doesn't mean it doesn't belong here. Porn, and food, is a personal choice. :)

As for there not being enough of it, the meals in these restaurants are 12 or MORE courses. Believe me, you are plenty full when you leave. It's also a lot about the experience that goes with the food. Service you will never find at Denny's.

Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE diner food, home cooking, and anything fried and southern! But I'm also open minded enough to try new things. I used to think the same way, I saw an almost empty plate and thought, NO WAY, where is the food! Until I tried it.

Let's try to keep an open mind about what others may think should go in this thread, after all, it's only food.

BTW, the foam stuff, I don't like it either, I think it's gross, but I'm glad I tried it.

To me, food porn can mean many things: it's something that makes you drool just looking at it; something that is almost too beautiful to eat; something that is just disgustingly excessive (like fried pizza or Krispy Kreme cheeseburgers); something that you've had only once but would kill to have again. I love seeing everyone else's interpretation. I want to see more!
Sorry if I came off as rude Roxy, but I was just trying to have a little fun while voicing my thoughts on food. Some people openly grossed out at the initial food, but it's all in humor and we're all just stating our opinions here. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but forums are about sharing our thoughts, and I was sharing mine in what was meant to be a good-humored way. I'm not saying that that food isn't delicious, that the experience isn't wonderful, just that it's not MY kind of food or style of dining. Not declaring law here, just my own stance on the idea!

Cadbury Cream Egg Benedict

Sliced doughnuts topped with brownie mix, melted Cadbury Creme Eggs and frosting, garnished with red sprinkles and served with fried pound cake chunks.

Corndog pig in a blanket

Crispy Cream Bread Pudding

McMuffin w/Donuts

Twinkie Sushi

OMG, corndog in a blanket. Only thing that would make that better is if it was HoneyB's homemade corndogs and Desi's Kentucky bisquits... Come on ladies, let's make this happen!
