Who here has seen the movie Down With Love? When I saw trailers I decided I had to see it. Then I saw it- loved the costumes, hated the movie. I recently caught it again and didn't hate it so much. But, I didn't love it either.

Overall, I'm confused by my response to this movie- it has Ewan McGregor (HOT), David Hyde Pierce (HILARIOUS), and Renee Zellwegger... all performers I like. The costumes are awesome, it parodies a genre of film that I love. And yet...

So, what I'm getting at is... Who's in love with Down with Love- and why? AND, who isn't in love with Down With Love- and why?

I remember seeing it, but I don't remember my reaction to it. I'll have to rent it again!
This is still one of my favorite movies! It was a bit cheesy but then again, I like cheesy movies. The costumes and sets are great. I love how cute Renee Zellwegger's character is and have honestly watched this movie many many times. Maybe it's just not for some? Anywho, that's my take :)
Yeah, I remember not being completely in love with it either. But I didn't hate it. I think I found it difficult to love the characters, because Ewan played a bit of a cheater and a lier. So I didn't really want to side with him, but I just couldn't say no to that adorable face. Maybe that's why? I really loved the song!
And of course, her decision at the end really tickled me.
I adore this movie, the producers clearly had a love for the genre as every detail was spot on. Perhaps the audience wasnt ready for it particularly when the original films on which this is based, are held in such high regard?
I love DOWN WITH LOVE. The costumes, the the humor and the story line was great and reminiscent of Doris Day- Rock Hudson, romantic comedies of the 60's. Cheese factor- through the roof. Campy acting- totally on purpose. Set design and sound track are amazing. Its a great light hearted and fun kind of a movie.

Dont tell anyone but my Hubby even loved it! You know thats hard to accomplish with a "Chick flick". lol
I love it. One of my favorite modern vintage movies. The costumes are awesome, and I love the campiness of it all. Also, a great cast!
Hahaha... That's almost a perfect summary of the way I felt watching it the second time around. Now I don't feel so alone! ;)

I love the film for the costumes and sets. Oh the costumes...LOVE THEM! Renee was perfect for the role she fits those types of 20th Century period films pretty well much like in Chicago & Leatherheads. David Hyde Pierce has amazing comedic timing, however Ewan's singing left me a bit flat but oh so delicious to look at. Other than that its mildly entertaining I would watch again if i can't sleep and nothing else is on but infomercials.

I give it 2.5 stars
I loved it. Ewan Mcgregor was absolutely charming in that movie.
I'm watching Down With Love right now so I decided to resurrect this thread. I still love this movie! And other then the costumes, the cheesiness, and the Doris/Rock quality, I LOVE the coloring!! The opening scene where everyone is in neutrals and she's in pink... beautiful!

And since we all love the costumes, I think we need some pictures!

and we can't forget her apartment!

OMG i love this movie!!! So 60's and "Mad Men" like!
Ive seen it twice and still can't get enough
I remember loving it the first time I saw it. But I probably didn't understand all the humor and whatnot because I was like only 14. But I thought it was cute. I'd love to see it again for sure.
