As part of my passion for all things mid-century, and living in Colorado, I love vintage and retro cowboy boots. Right now, I have 4 pairs of retro boots, and one vintage pair. My feet are larger than the average woman's in the ’50s, so vintage boots in my size are hard to come by. In my price range, even more so. Also, I won't buy any pair that I wouldn't actually wear riding (although it took me a looooong time to get comfortable with that idea where the Atlantics were concerned).

Of course, I have "dream" boots, too, but I can't justify spending $3,000 on a single pair. Let alone ALL of the pairs of $3,000 boots that I covet!

Anyone else have a passion for inlay and tooling?

I have a beautiful vintage red tooled leather box purse my sister's mother-in law gave me. Alas, I used it so much one of the handles broke :( Can a leather strap be mended? It broke where the strap attaches to the purse.
I love the brown and green ones! so adorable. great collection!
Take your purse to a shoe repair place! They do all sorts of leather repair work. If they seem hesitant, try a saddle shop.

I love the look of tooled leather so much!! My boyfriend actually went out and got all the tools and dye and leather and everything, and we had a craft weekend last winter when we were snowed in!! It was so much fun, he made a belt, I practiced on some keychains.. I still havent had time to get the hang of it.. but this winter I promised to make him a holster for his revolver.. haha.. he's such a cowboy..
Oh and your boots are LOVELY! The green ones.. are awesome
Thanks! The second pair are vintage Dan Posts. I had a real collector estimate them to be from the early ’50s (he also tried to buy them, literally off my feet), but if I let myself believe that, I'd stop wearing them around all the time. So I tell myself he must have been mistaken.
As for riding in them, well, I don't ride much and on the rare occasion that I do, someone else is taking care of the horses so I'm not tramping around in a whole lotta mud and whatnot. A good brush, a little water, a toothbrush, and some decent leather conditioner (never wax!) and everything is A-OK. Any dirt that settles in for good just adds character. The Atlantics (the brown ones with the cream and turquoise inlays) have an X-toe, and I tend to accidentally kick the horses in the rear when I'm getting in the saddle, so I think I won't wear those out of deference to the horses themselves. :)

I love your boots! Especially the second pair and the last pair! I wouldn't want to ride in them though, my boots always get so dirty from riding.
I'd pretty much give up my future first-born for a custom pair of Rocketbusters. I love gorgeously inlaid and painted boots!

I love Rocketbuster! That brown pair in the photos is a knockoff of a Rocketbuster pattern... but they're by Old Gringo, so they're still handmade and wood-pegged.

This forum was "laying fallow" when I got my last pair of boots, but Kim Bombshell inadvertently reminded me that I'd better update things!

If I'm in jeans, I'm likely to be in that first pair of boots. I overpaid a little, but they wound up being worth it on a per-wearing basis!

Number 1 pair is WAY TOO COOL! I love em! Here in Ohio you don't see many gals in boots. Now, when I lived in Oklahoma that was a different story!
Delicious! I'm a texas gal myself and I know how you feel about cowboy boots!!! I hate that when I go to other cities folks wear them as a novelty item.. it really chaps my hide!!! " hee hee :)
