"Aguilera will play an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice who
finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club that
appears to be right out of Bob Fosse's Cabaret."

So the cast apparently is as follows:

Christina Aguilera, Cher, Cam Gigandet, Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell...

I know that a portion of the movie was filmed in Toronto wear I live. It is nice that someone is shining a light on such a beautiful art form such as burlesque. Although I'm not too sure on how the interpretation will come across. This could very well taint the image of burlesque and give the general public a negative view. I'm guessing that the majority of people going to watch the film will be burlesque fans anyway, just as the case of Drew Barrymore's "Whip It" which gave the spotlight to roller derby.

So I was wondering what all of you lovely people think! Are you stoked about the movie, not-so stoked? Do you like the cast? Would you want to see anyone else take on leading roles? Let's here some feedback, this movie is about something we here at PL all love!

I've heard from people working on the movie, it started out really good but due to changes requested by the "star" it is very cheesy and far removed from the original concept. We'll wait and see. I'm sure my curiosity will make me watch it anway.
Yeah, my curiosity will make me go watch it as well despite whatever criticism the movie gets. Also I noticed from pictures that it seems to take place in current times. I would have based the film in the let's say 40's or 50's era. I don't know that's just me!
a good friend of mine built some of the sets .... He did a vintage style stage for the movie. He also got to see the cast all decked out in wardrobe too .... he also heard the same thing about the changes by the STAR, So I hope it's still good ... :)
Hmmm...I will watch this but have this horrible feeling it just won't work. If I hate it, I'll just look at Cam Gigandet for the duration ;P
Hehe! I know, I don't see it working either... I'm sure it will be a box office bomb!

I'll see it for sure. If only for a good laugh.

Anyone going to go see this tonight at midnight?
I'll see it. it seems like a fun movie, and I will be dragging Xavier to see it too!!
From everything I've seen I would have no problem with it, if it was called Cabaret. But so far, I see no burlesque. Her performance on the AMAs showed just how little this has to do with burlesque. I think I'll wait for DVD.
We went and watched it yesterday... I must say that I was totally entertained by it. Julie & I went with another couple that had already seen it and thought it was so good they wanted to see it again. The entire audience all gave it good clapping to at the end. Soooo I give it a 2 claws up. Julie loved it as well.
I'm taking my girl to see it today, and hope it meets up with our expectations. Cher is still really hot and christiana's voice is amazing. I just hope I movie is worth seeing at the theater.
"Cabaret" is huge in the urban culture, I think Christina got the 2 mixed up on this film. I'll be seeing it for sure but I'll know that it's not what I consider burlesque. I'm easily entertained tho so i'll enjoy it for sure, and then again who wouldn't by watching Christina on the big screen!?

Perhaps someone who does burlesque could shed some light on what we should consider "Burlesque" ?
