I make amazing brownies, no joke, they are famous among my friends. I make them from the box, no scratch cooking for me, however, I have a few small changes. I add extra chocolate syrup to the batter, always use an 8x8 pan so they are nice and thick, and cook them for 3/4 the time it says. When they come out they are almost lava like... my best friend named them "Dragon Drool Brownies" when we were in high school (not real sure why).

Maybe that will help.
Roxy's right. Undercook them just a little bit (good tip for cookies, too). They will continue to cook a little bit after you take them out of the oven. Also, don't grease or spray the sides of the pan, just the bottom. If you spray the sides, the batter will slide down and create a hard crust on the edges. Good luck!
il have to try both ideas. thanks :)
that reminds me of those tv ads you see for the perfect brownie pans that make each piece have its own edges. i kinda want to try one of those

Dragon Drool...YES! Great advice guys. I have an antique oven that overcooks everything so I have to watch the temp very close. The ole toothpick method is good and for you edge lovers I found this pan on Amazon.
