BREAK/BREAK-UP: Has anyone been through this?!?

Hey PL friends. I have been with my boyfriend for five years. We have a son together, bought a home...the whole nine yards. But we just can't seem to get it together. We have decided to break up/take a break. I'm going to go back home to Vegas for awhile and he will fly out to see our Son as often as he can. Were hoping this break will help us decide what we want. Whether it be to work out our relationship, or end it for good. Has anyone else done this? How did it work for you? I really think this is the best decision we have made in regards to our relationship...our lives really. But its scary. So much can happen in a couple months.

Actually went through something very similar with my husband. We had moved to Texas where he was training horses and on the road at shows for several weeks at a time. It was really hard so we decided to seperate for awhile and I moved home. It sucked and I think I cried the whole drive back to the west coast. But it really helped us figure out what we wanted and needed. We were back together within 3 months, but it took a lot of brutally honest conversations and some compromises. Just remember your strong and amazing, no matter what happens you will come out of it beautifully

Whatever does happen between the two of you, make sure to always reassure your son that both of you love him very much. I wish you luck and happiness.
