What's your favorite? What pieces are essential under your vintage and retro dresses?

Personally, I never wear a dress without an open bottom girdle underneath. Not only does it hold my tummy in and keep my butt from jiggling too much, it also holds up my stockings. I also like to wear a corset/cincher under tight dresses to make my waist just a little tinier.

Under high waisted pants I wear a spanks...just for that extra firmness and to keep my tummy in.

My fave has to be a corset, got loads of them and 2nd best would be my OBG's for holding everything in and stockings up!

I have a problem that most of you don't have... a flat bootie! So when I am trying to look my best I usually go for a 3/4 length shaper with a padded bottom. But I must admit that with all the comments to this topic, I have got some research to do. Hopefully I can return to this topic with updated info.

In the old days such pads were called "symmetricals". In his memoirs Groucho wrote about Harpo stealing a set from a dressing room in their vaudeville days. He wore them on the outside of his clothes and the owner chased him through the theatre to get them back -- much the opposite of their films where Harpo famously did the chasing ;-)

Do you use "Bubbles bodywear" for your curve enhancers? I love them, some of the designs are so fun. I don't need any padding LOL but the "double O" butt-bra really lifts everything and makes the most of what you have without padding.  Looks great with a cincher.

I don't want to burst any bubbles...I must admit that I do not have anything by Bubbles Bodywear. I have bought my shapers from a variety of sources. But who can resist such a wonderfully named piece of shapewear. I think I will just have to get me one/some. Will it make me bubblicious?

Haha!  Have a look yourself   http://www.lovemybubbles.com/?ref=cj

There are many Rago pieces at MyBabyJo .. online but also in the store. MBJ is just 5 blocks from my apt!

I only have a longline bra and I love it.  I actually need it to get into one of my vintage dresses because the waist is that small. I always tell myself I'm going to invest in more shapewear, but I just end up buying more clothes! It's really terrible.

I just found a super cute Waist Corselet on Modcloth of all places!! And only $39.99!!! It fits quite comfortably I even went dancing in it and had no problems!! Looking back over the site just now, they have quite a nice selection of underpinnings! This may be a bit off topic but I had the weirdest experience with Corset Deal today. I wanted to have my order sent to my PO Box. The website would not let me. So I called their toll free number, I think the call center is in India. Anyway after giving them almost all of my information and telling them that I wanted to send it to my PO Box, when we got to the end they told me they could not send it to my PO Box. It took a 20 minute phone call to get the same result I got in a few seconds on their website. I still may order from them because their prices are so good. But the whole experience was like dealing with someone who said "We can do that" and then when all is done they say "We can't do it". Oh well.

We have a thread all about corset deal here, you should head over there and add this. It'll be good to have it all in one place.
