"We Are The New Vintage"
Hey! Are you still, or were you, frightened at your first photoshoot? BIG or SMALL?
Hi, my name is Mars, A.k.A. LiTTLE BOOTS....
and let me tell you, I was one big ball of NERVOUS hahah I was afraid, intimidated, star struck, acting wierd and shy not to mention second guessing myself a whole lot. All that in one. But by my second photoshoot I had practiced my angles/poses/ you name it, and slowly became comfortable to be infront of the camera. I literally would play dress up with my friend get all dolled up in my best lingerie and she'd take hundreds of pix of me, that helped alot. I also, would get all dolled up occasionally and work different poses in the mirror of my room , that was and still is fun with or without a friend. From all of that I learned to be comfortable with my body and realize what I had to offer and how to deliver, how to compliment photos with my body language. It takes alot of believing in yourself , seeing yourself in every positive matter and in success. I.m not sure If I see modeling as a career at the moment but definently love to do it for the most part and will continue to model as a hobby.
To those timid as I use to be... *STAY CALM * OBSERVE* SOAK IN ALL YOU CAN* and *BELIEVE! wether you choose to model for fun or as career =] ...And to those who said YES when you read " WERE YOU FRIGHTENED AT YOUR FIRST PHOTOSHOOT" please share your story!! <3

Yay...thanks for your entry...that´s exactly how i feel...i had my second shhot last sunday, felt so ashamed, frightened, ugly, fat, unsure and all those silly things...the photographer was really nice, a funny guy....he wants to do a lot more shhots with me...also in lingerie...even if i´m still looking forward to more shoots i still feel unsure...maybe next time i should drink a little sparkling wine or kind like these ;-)
Next shoot will be a western shoot...i hope everything will go well :-)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and guidance! I think a lot of models out there see amazing photos and assume they are the only ones who experience being nervous, etc.
Looks like you nailed it on overcoming your photo shoot woes. From a photographer's point of view, I often work with newbees and first timers. I try and encourage them, by telling them that they look great and beautiful. I give them helpful hints and instruct them in giving them the three main rules of modeling and build there confidence. I tend to be very loud, when I shoot, and models have told me that it encourages them to keep focused and their enthusiasm up. (I picked that up from a photographer who was shooting with producer Julie Campball, when I was watching a "Making of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition" video It annoys other photographers at a group shoot, but it works.
I think I'm feeling a little of that right now; I love posing and playing dress-up and all of that (regardless of lack of skill in the hair/makeup dept.). But lately I've been feeling extremely self-conscious. I'm 24 and I've gained a little bit of back fat, though my weight overall stays in the 120-something range. I'm 5"2 and pigeon-toed, so it's impossible for me to wear high heels above 2 inches. Seeing the recent Miss USA pageant made me feel a little intimidated, as if what I am isn't good enough...but deep down I know that America's standards of what's beautiful are purely psychotic. Still, I can't help feeling a little intimidated when looking at pictures like the ones here, because I don't have any of the resources most other pin-ups have.
However, I do have a friend who offered to help me with a photo shoot idea that I came up with based on a dress I bought from a Bettie Page clothing shop in Las Vegas. I'm a little nervous about if it will come out the way I imagine it (my friend says my panty line is distracting, so I'm kind of angsting about how to fix that). But I'm sure that with both our heads together it will turn out great, as will any others I do. I'm going to keep posing and let my inner kid out, because it's so much fun!
