PC... MAC sucks because everything breaks. PC may have stolen MAC's idea but PC took it and made it way better. You can't customize a MAC at all... I like to upgrade my parts, not buy an entirely new computer. The iPhone even sucks. Sorry I'm VERY passionate about this subject.

Actually... Both Microsoft and Apple stole their GUI ideas from Xerox. They were the first to come up with the Graphical User Interface. ...Just a little bit of useless information you'll never need to know.
And you really don't need to upgrade macs, I was crushing newer windows machines with my dual prog G5 until last yr (thats close to 5yrs of service), then I bought a my 8 core Mac Pro. I'll be gobbling up windows machines for a few more yrs. Its all in quality control and selection of parts. They removed the ability to customize the machines for a reason. They make them solid to begin with. How many hooked up bentleys do you see on the road, Rolls Royces? Compare that to Hondas, and Toyotas, all of them highly customizable and too many examples of stuff gone wrong. IF Microsoft standardized hardware and made their own, there is no doubt in my mind less windows machines would crash around the world. Don't get me wrong here tho, i'm all about custom s***, my iPhone is pimped the f*** out with more useless s*** than i could imagine. My Mac Pro has an upgraded video card and 8GB of RAM. I rock 4 1TB Internal drives, so to say that it isnt customizable is wrong. More like, it is less breakable. You're pretty much allowed to touch anything you should be allowed to touch =) And that's coming from a tech. Did I mention when I sold my 5yr old Dual Proc G5 I got 2K cash without any bargaining???

Please watch this and tell me I'm crazy for raving about quality of build and control and comparing it to the top exotic auto makers..
Wonderboy, I don't know if you're still wondering. What I can add to the convo is only the facts and opinions in my little personal world, but here goes:
fact: It's Mac, not MAC. It isn't an acronym for anything, just short for Macintosh. :)
opinion: Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine. Acronyms that aren't.
fact: I used a PC up until 1995, then switched over to a Mac because my dad (graphic designer) said I'd need to know it (I'm also a designer). I never went back.
opinion: I was scared of learning a whole new platform, but within a day I was amazed at how easy it was, to use and to customize. Instead of me having to learn where Microsoft had crammed something in where there was space, it was as though everything was exactly where it logically should be. I learned the OS in no time, and was dinking around in the programming depths whenever I needed to tweak something, without fear of mucking something up. Or at least, without fear of mucking something up so badly that I was desperately trying to undo it and shaking my fist. That was before OSX, though.
fact: OSX is built on Unix.
opinion: You can definitely get into the code and mess around if you want to, but be sure you're comfortable speaking the language. I'm not, but I haven't wished that my computer could do something that it couldn't. Well, make me coffee, maybe.
fact: I have upgraded, by myself, ever Mac I've owned (In 13 years, I've had four machines: desktop, tower, Mini (briefly), and a laptop that is so robust I switched to it full-time). Only the Mini was hard to get into, and required a spackling thingie.
fact: In the office where I work, every single bit of print design, package design, web design, audio editing and video editing (and we're a media production company, so believe me there is a LOT of audio/video editing) is done on Macs. The accountants use PCs.
opinion: We don't care what they look like. Most of our equipment is under our desks.
fact: We have a team of IT guys for tech support. We have one, very-part-time guy for Mac support, who comes in on an as-needed basis.
opinion: That, to me, says something.
fact: The guy who bought my Mini via craigslist told me that he was a PC guy, through and through, but he had played with GarageBand, the pre-loaded music editing software, on a friend's machine, and was buying a Mac for that reason alone.
opinion: Daddy Cool is right, these things are beautifully boxed. If you're a really visual person, opening a new Mac is one of the sexiest experiences you can have. A rare treat, too, because they, or at least mine, last so damn long.
fact: There are fewer games available for the Mac platform, and Macs can't run MS Publisher.
opinion: The world would be a prettier place if nobody could run MS Publisher. Powerpoint is also hideous, but it's cross-platform.
fact: Never order new equipment directly from Apple. The prices are the same, but the sales tax will kill you. Order online, from out of state. Amazon usually has some sort of rebate on hardware, and prices for RAM/AppleCare/software are all over the place. Shop around.
