I need to lose about 20 pounds according to my doctor. My problem is I LOVE food that is bad for me and I'm SUPER lazy. What can I do to get myself in gear and actually WANT to work out? I know so many people who love working out but I need motivation!

I want your opinions and suggestions!! :) Thanks!

Yep, weight watchers does it! I did it along time ago, lost weight! Now I gotta get back on it...... haha.
Hey Doll!
I think we ALL have this problem at one point or another! It's WAY more fun to indulge!
I find that the best way to maintain and slim down is to stay away from sugar! Seriously, just lay off the white stuff and you'll notice a major change! Eat lots of veggies and lean protein and take the stairs!
Also, don't beat yourself up if you cheat once and a while, we're human, it happens. Pin ups are lucky, cause we're one of the few groups of models that are allowed to have a lil'curve! You're beautiful and sometimes loving what you've got is much easier(and WAAAAY more fun) than beating yourself up about that extra 10lbs that everyone thinks they need to lose!
Good luck Lady!

First of all, I don't think you need to lose 20 pounds!!

Start easy...park farther from work and take the stairs!!!

My best workout motivation is to start up my coffee pot before i exercize, then all I want to do is get through my cardio hour so I can go slug it down!!!

Once you start working out, you feel SO GOOD about yourself that you want to do it more! The hardest part is that initial motivation.

Weight watchers is so cool because it brings portion control, nutrition, and figuring out your NEEDS to an elementary level, which is SO easy to apply anywhere you eat.

It's cheaper to bring your own food places anyway.

My favorite cookbook is "Crazy Plates: Low Fat Food So Good, You'll Swear It's Bad For You" by Janet and Greta Podleski. It's full of awesome tips and healthy nutrition packed versions of all types of recipes from thai food to manicotti to bbq chicken and everything in between. It helped me get excited about eating healthy because the food is so delicious and it uses a lot of the same ingredients over and over so if you have to splurge on like, sesame oil or sun-dried tomatoes, you can use them all week!
That sounds like a great cookbook!

Eventhough I teach classes at a gym, you don't need a gym!! You can do everything you want at home or by walking, etc etc. If you would like some ideas of what to do at home I can give you some. I used to weigh 30 lbs more than I do now and I lost it by working out at home and changing my eating habits. I only started going to a gym when I started teaching classes there after I lost weight and got inspired to help others.
i'm not fully one to speek on this topic... (got a gym memeber ship last week, and havent even been)
SiGNING UP IS A STEP.... i'm not ready yet.... NEXT WEEK i Am.... But SiGNING UP WAS THE FIRST STEP....
ALSO....
i dont do Mayo, or salad dressings....
i keep'er cool, on the Chips and snack department.....

do a body Detox!
google some!

Although I am myself overweight I am currently doing Nursing Science and can give a little advice.

1. Drink about 8 (full) glasses of water each day, or keep a water bottle full of fresh, cold water with you at all times. Drinking water improves your kidney function and filters out toxins faster.

2. When you get up in the morning do some stretches. Stretch your gastrocnemius muscles (back of your calves), rotate your head, shoulders and ankles and stretch your arms and rotate your wrists. You don't have to stretch so it hurts, just so you can feel the muscles pulling gently.

3. Stand up straighter and keep a good posture - often many people hunch over without realising it and it makes you look bulkier.

4. You really don't need a gym membership. Things like walking about 20 - 30 minutes a day (at a regular pace that's around 2 - 3km) once you build up to it can be really beneficial for your health.

5. Eat healthier. Cut out (or at the very least, cut down) on alcohol (glass of red wine once or twice a week is actually beneficial though), cigarettes, caffeine and sugary things like carbonated drinks and sweets - perhaps try substitutes, for example instead of coffee have herbal tea such as green, chamomile, peppermint or chai. Instead of white sugar try brown (it's sweeter so you can have less) or sweeteners. Some brands are dodgy, and I'm afraid the only brand I can recommend is an Australian brand called Splenda. I wouldn't recommend Equal though, but when you get a good sweetener it takes exactly the same.

Contrary to popular opinion, carbohydrates are perfectly ok to eat - you have to burn them off, but they're a great energy booster; a lot better than sugar or guarana which gives a short burst of energy and then leaves you feeling down afterwards. White bread is full of sugar, but logically wholemeal bread is a substitute as well as brown rice...

Well, I hope I helped!

I think you have to start in small steps. You have to think of it as changing your life not loosing 20 lbs or you will keep adding it back. I have lost a huge amount of weight and can tell you that you have to commit to it. But make sure you are doing for the right reasons. Just because a Dr. tells you that you need to doesn't make it so.

Try www.mypyramid.gov It is a free site to track your calories, exercise ect. I love it. Also a support system is needed, friends are great assets! Once you start exercising and find a routine you love, it gets easier. If you need any tips, hit me up. Good luck! :)
Hugs.
You lost 23 lbs?! That's amazing! I'll have to try it!

p.s. I can't imagine you any bigger than you are right now! You're so incredibly thin... I would have never thought! (I don't mean that meanly :) )

WEIGHT WATCHERS!
i swear i lost 23 lbs on it & it was easy!
i did the points
i know it sounds weird but it works!! a friend of mine did it & told me to.
My mom lost 60 lbs. we did it together. I my friend on the east coast emailed me every day & we chatted about our meals.
it worked for me!

:)
hope that helps
I do weight watchers too! I actually do it on my own, without the meetings, just the books. It is actually kinda instilled in my head now. When I eat something I think, okay there are this many points in this. When I go to the grocery store I pick everything up and look to see how many points it will be. It works for me. I have lost over 65lbs. so far and I have about 100 more to go!
A little trick that I do is I try to get the most "bang for my buck"! I will buy things that are the least amount of points so I can eat more. I LOVE to eat...no, I really LOVE to eat!!! Like there are some soups that are ZERO points!!! There are a lot of zero points and one point...its great!!!
It works for me! I hope you find something that works for you. I know how hard it is. I have been struggling with my weight my entire life.

Oh yeah, I also go to pilates and spinning classes. Pilates make me so much stronger. I have a lot of muscle under the flab haha. Spinning class is SO HARD but it is so worth it! I love it so much!!! You can burn up to 1,000 calories in ONE HOUR! Seriously, its the best hour you can spend at the gym!

well I dunno about working out, but there is an AMAZING diet pill u can ask ur doc about to get ur weight loss jump started, i s*** you not I lost 2 lbs in th first day!!! it gives u crazy energy and you are not hungry at all! I had to force myself to eat! and Im a HUGE food fan lol its called phentermine, you take this one tiny pill(smaller than a tic tac) a day I lost a lil over 20 lbs in 1 month and I did absolutely NOTHING! and it makes u really thirsty so u drink like 1 -2 gallons of water a day so it cleans out ur system and ur skin will look amazing too! its quite expensive though, $187 for a 30 day supply but I only took it for 1 mo and the weight stayed off, I have been off for about 4 months now.
