yikes!! I had a kind of similar story. the guy I use now was an apprentice a few years ago and started a custom piece on my leg. He quit and I had no idea where he went. I had to ask tons of artists where he went until I finally found him. it was about a year and a half. I hope you find him. having to get a different artist to finish your piece is nerve racking.

You should be able to find the guy tho, do tattoo artists manage their own books?
The artist that started my half sleeve owned his own parlor. He wanted a change of scenery, so he packed up shop and relocated out to North Carolina. I just looked at the portfolios from other artists around town until I found someone I liked, and had him pick up where the other artist left off. He even added on to it to make it better. He's changed tattoo shops a few times, but we keep in touch so I'll always know where to find him.
I'm sure you can find someone to finish your ink work for you. Good luck!
I have a piece on my leg that is not done, and the guy who started it is MIA, so I'm gonna ask my favorite new tattoo artist to finish it. I have no issues having someone else finish, because I trust Mr Red (http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/profile/RBmPyre?xg_source=profiles_me...) completely. I think as long as you trust the person, and know they'll do a good job, it's ok to have someone else finish an unfinished piece.
