MORE DETAILS ~ CABARET VERDALET:
Cabaret Verdalet returns with its seventh annual stage show featuring top name talents from the worlds of burlesque, circus arts, variety cabaret and nightclub jazz, February 28th at the Great American Music Hall. Expect an array of alluring ladies, elaborate costumes, whimsical diversions and intriguing acts blending innovative and exotic influences with traditional themes in dance, song and vaudeville revues. The dancers draw from Latin, belly dance and Ziegfeld, the burlesque blurs striptease, drag and contortion skills while the music mixes original works with revivals from virtuoso vocalists accompanied by hot jazz outfit The Cottontails.
Verdalet fashions a new scene for vintage-styled variety theater hosted by the charming and glamorous drag opera diva Katya Smirnoff-Skyy, equally adept at enticing arias, beguiling banter and countless quick-changes of custom couture throughout the show. Guest artists include the uniquely dynamic and enigmatic Tigger from New York, dubbed "Performer Most Likely to Get Shut Down by the Law" at the New York Burlesque Festival's Golden Pastie Awards and Best Boylesque of 2006 by the Burlesque Hall of Fame. Michelle L'amour from Chicacgo flaunts the art of the tease as elegant sensuality laced with sly humour. A true star of the genre, Miss L'amour has played to international audiences, scandalized network television and earned numerous titles including Miss Exotic World 2005.
From Seattle, we have vivacious burlesque sensation Miss Indigo Blue. In addition to ten years of performing clever and finely crafted routines around the world, she has a host of credits as teacher and organizer including founder and Headmistress of the Academy of Burlesque and co-producer of Seattle's BurlyCon burlesque convention. Creative chameleon, costume designer and flamboyant spectacle artist Amber Ray joins us from New York. From Los Angeles, there's the stunning Latina pin-up La Cholita, Miss Viva Las Vegas 2007 and featured attraction on Playboy.com. And a warm welcome back to the amazing acrobatic duo Gravity Plays Favorites from St. Louis and gorgeous showgirl extraordinaire Kalani Kokonuts from Las Vegas.
For long-time aficionados of the scene, it's a much-anticipated night of choice talents and for new-comers, the perfect introduction to the classic beauty of burlesque and the timeless appeal of live variety theater.
